Mombasa with it's blend of ancient and modern buildings is claimed to
be the oldest town in East Africa. A comprehensive Island
tour will include the Fort
Jesus, built by the
Portuguese in 1593, guarding the entrance to the old harbour. It still stands
today as a museum holding a fascinating collection of historic coastal
artefacts. The elephant tusks gazetted by Queen Elizabeth II mark the entry
to East Africa. The tour further takes you
to the old Arab town with its maze of narrow twisting alleys, displaying
beautifully carved doors, goldsmiths and curio shops, the Hindu temple and
finally the Akamba Handicraft co-operative, where
over 2,000 artists produce a great variety of every reasonably priced wood carvings. The mack non market for

drive to the North coast for the feeding time of giraffes ,
hippos and crocodiles in Haller park before driving back to your hotel.
